Glock 42 In Stock - I bought mine at the end of the first year it appeared and had no problems with it. I wear a suit most of the time and can carry mine in my uncle Mike's jacket pocket or in a Vedder tuckable IWB (accessory) without anyone noticing.

This gun has very little downside. My 9-12 year olds have been shooting this lately and have had no problem turning it on. My oldest runs a G26 and G23/G19 (I have a reverse barrel...thank goodness!) and he likes to run a G42 because of the ground clearance.

I don't like the trigger on this, so I get a 3.5 lbs link to reduce the length of pull and the hard stop. Maybe it's the size and weight of the gun, but it looks like the trigger seems to have a longer length and the stop is "strong" to fly.

This is my first Glock purchase and I have no regrets! My friend suggested it to me. He said to get either a 42 or a 43. I chose the 42 for its simplicity and ease of concealment. Hoping to eventually get a 43. I used a Taurus 738 for this gun. It has many problems and jams with it. There is no such problem with the Glock. Expect to put a lot of cycles through it in the range.

PLUS it's fun to shoot. I have Ruger LC9s, a pair of 'snappy' for my wrist and thumb (arthritis and uncorrected dislocated thumb), like a black G43...double stack no go for thumb(G26)...the best of all the worlds to me. Small, light, easy to shoot (correct!), very effective with "proper" ammo (I love the Lehigh Xtreme Defense)..reliable, typical Glock quality..excellent!

Newbie, I love to shoot too. Glock 19 is my first, bought in 2014, which I am learning to handle, clean, etc. Most of the use has been the last four weeks, since I signed up for a concealed carry license, and I wanted to skip the shooting part as well. It seems like this should be easy. But, as the class approached, I realized I didn't want to carry the big gun. I love the baby Glock! She is beautiful, but don't let the "beautiful" fool you! Gun packs walp! I have no visible distortion, but the shot is a little strange because it has a small gun to go into the fire! I'm sure you'll get used to it, but use a Glock 19 for test firing. LOL

Glock 42 In Hand - As I wrote in Glock Misses Perfection…, I had the pleasure of reaching out to shooters in Australia (and the US) on Press Day at the 2014 SHOT Show at the Range. There has been so much controversy over the release of the Glock 42 in .380 ACP that I wanted to shoot one. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

I have several Glocks. The G23 has a 22 round magazine, Speer GDHP and Streamlight TRL-1S is my bedside gun. I carry a Gen 4 G27 every day in my role as a Police Sergeant. Not that I'm a fan. I own and enjoy a safe full of other gun manufacturers, but I admire the performance of Gaston Glock pistols.

I guess I didn't care about the looks or reliability of the 2014 Glock 42.  These are... sure good. The size of the new gun piqued my curiosity. Yes, I read the information provided for the G42. It's the same size as my Kahr PM9, but about half an inch longer at the slide. Knowing this did not satisfy my happiness.

We waited our turn on Press Day to get a treat - a handful of single-load Glock magazines loaded with .380 cal. hard ball. In front of us, two tables in a row with the new G42 and G41 were occupied, but not for long. Shaking our rooms, we reach the door in no time.

The journalists in front of us finally finished the test and Richard, Aaron and I signaled to the "left side" at an open table. It started with some slow shots. Click, click, click, click. Turn again, repeat. The lack of finger grooves on the front strap and the lack of an adjustable back strap made the Glock smaller than the Gen 1 or Gen 2. The G42 was smaller than the what I imagined.

With a long line of eager media behind us, the urgency of things was respectful. I took the G42 and dried it. I can put my pinky at the bottom of the handle. It felt normal in the hand. I gave Richard my video camera so I could shoot the shot. Loaded mags, skidded tires, got targets. Let the explosion begin!

The G42 had Glock's signature design and short, light reset. It was easy to control. Well, that was expected. Our guns went off quickly. I turned to the Glock representative and thanked him. I told him I was worried about running out of .380 ammo before I fired. Deadpan, he said it's not a problem because the company has released 20,000 rounds. I asked, "Two-Zero Thousand?" We ran out of time and had to fight. I don't think any of us were disappointed. Not surprised, but not disappointed. I have little aversion to the .380 ACP as a round because it produces the same power as the .38 S&W Special in modern loads. Today's bullet technology is very much in favor of the .380 register as well.

This gun is a bargain I can buy. If you don't like Glocks and/or small calibers, you won't have much use for the new Glock 42. But as many professionals predicted,   Glock will sell a metric ton of these pistols. Maybe the SHOT Show 2015 will show the 9mm version.
